The centralized inverter cabinet is a high-efficiency traditional solution deployed in large-scale power plants. Its core design principle involves first consolidating the direct current (DC) electricity generated by a vast number of BAT strings and then converting it uniformly into alternating current (AC) through a single, high-power inverter for grid connection.

For large-scale power plants, the cost per unit power of a single high-power inverter is often lower than the combined cost of multiple string inverters. It is giving the overall system a competitive advantage in initial investment cost for utilities applications.


High Power Density and Centralized Maintenance Access:

Integrating megawatt-level power conversion functionality within a single cabinet achieves very high power density, helping to save space within the power plant.

All primary electrical interfaces, data monitoring points, and cooling systems are concentrated at a few locations, facilitating centralized monitoring and inspection for maintenance personnel and reducing the complexity of daily rounds.


High Conversion Efficiency and Optimized Grid Interaction:

Operating near their rated load, centralized inverters typically achieve very high peak conversion efficiency. Their output is directly connected to the medium-high voltage grid via a dedicated step-up transformer, resulting in a simple electrical structure and stable output characteristics conducive to centralized grid dispatch and control.


Technical Maturity and High Reliability:

As a technology validated over the long term in the market, the design and manufacturing processes for centralized inverters are highly mature. The lifespan and reliability of core components (such as IGBTs) are well-proven. Their robust construction allows them to withstand harsh industrial environments, delivering a long Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
